Why, oh why did I stop by the window in the pet shop in the Tucson Mall? I know better and yet, they're so cute! Why isn't it illegal to keep man's best friend in a cage for the first three months of it's life? Poor little puppies, what a way to start out! It is illegal in some states but not here in Arizona. Animal rights groups should be all over this subject before they even worry about anything else. I saw two 3-4 month old puppies in the window, "marked down" because they were half grown. One was a dog-du-jour, "Labradoodle" and one was a St. Bernard. In a glassed in cage, maybe 2x3. Some straw on the floor, no one to pet them, no one to take care of them except maybe the staff, a couple of times a day. It made me sick and it was all I could do not to run in there and hurl abuse at the idiots that let this happen in their store. Of course, it is probably a chain and the folks that work there may not have any input into how the puppies are treated. I really don't care! If you know the people you work for are cruel to animals, don't work for them! If you love animals, don't think it's fun to have a bunch in one area to look at, it's CRUEL! Don't buy your pet from such a place, these stores are the reason puppy mills exist!Without an outlet, there is no reason to do what puppy mills do, which is cause pain and suffering for the dogs, the puppies and the foolish people who buy them!
