I am a mountain person, having lived in Colorado for 35 years. Now I find myself in the desert, which has been fine. When I lived 90 miles north of Tucson, it was not really mountainous but more so than Tucson. Elevation was tops about 5,000 feet at most, whereas Colorado can be up to 10,000 in the higher towns.Anyway, I'm headed farther up the road this weekend, to Pinetop and Show Low, AZ. It's just like being in Colorado when you're up there. Tall trees, fresh air, all the mountain perks. I'm not staying long but I'm looking forward to it. I was surprised to find the variety of scenery types that are available in Arizona. I thought, like a lot of people think, that all I would find would be desert. In fact, unless you're in southern Arizona, you won't see the famous saguaros or any familiar desert scapes. Now all I need is to go to a beach sometime in the next hundred years.
