Jerry Hall's Metal Art

Jerry Hall had a yard like no other. Eventually succombing to colon cancer, he continued to decorate his space with more folk art, even during the chemotherapy.There are more than 60 pieces of this incredible metal art on this inner city lot. Hall passed away in October 2010; I drove by the other day to show another visitor the yard-gallery and noticed the house was for sale. That makes me sad. His wife, Chris, had been maintaining the yard but evidently she wants to leave. Hopefully she will find a way to decorate another space with all of her late husband's art. I first saw this yard in 2001 or so and really, this is what made me want to make metal art. It blew me away.

 

New Gate Installed

Recently hired to make a custom "gate" for a nice couple living in the desert below the Tucson Mountains. I've been working on it for over a month, along with my husband, who worked mostly on the animals attached. Here are the final pictures, after we installed it today.

Sunset in August

 I was out taking some sunset photos the other evening and this pesky, little hummer landed in my mesquite tree and just hung around until I got a bunch of her, too.

The Clouds Roll In

page. What a great idea and now he is on year number 2. There are always great clouds in Tucson and today was outstanding. I used to think that the clouds in Colorado and specifically, Denver were the best. I remember a song that came out in the '80s called "The Arizona Skies". I thought they were nuts at the time, how could AZ beat out the great state of Colorado. Well, looking back, I guess I should have made a trip then to check it out! I've probably got 10,000 pictures of the sky here. What I will ever do with them when I get old, I have no idea. I'll post some for you. Keep in mind that I just walked out front, took a few,walked around back, took some more. No going and camping on a hillside, no scouting out a good spot. These are just everyday cotton candy skies.

Welding in the Sun

I finally felt more like doing some art this weeekend. I spent part of Saturday and most of Sunday using my plasma cutter and assembling things and painting them. It was nice and my husband helped with some things, too. I need to do some things because, for some reason, June and July have a ton of birthdays in them. My husband says that home made things are better and everyone knows that, I hope he's right. It sort of reminds me of my mother telling me that the clothes she made me were way cooler than store-bought ones. Of course, now I know she was right about that, but then...no, I wasn't convinced. Anyway, if anyone wants much of a present from me, it will need to be "made" this year. I did try s new style today, the flower, namely. I'll put them up and you can see if you like it. You gotta know, it's a good way to pass the day.


 

Thanksgiving at the Grand Canyon

Brrr! Very cold there, especially at sunrise. Beautiful though, of course. Tons of folks there, mostly from other countries. A good time to go there, all in all.
